About Us

The Owners

Hi! We are the Mast family, and we love coffee! We actually first met working side-by-side as baristas at Nampa’s beloved Flying M Coffeegarage in 2015.

Since then Joshua has worked for several other coffee shops, including establishments in Austin, Texas, as a barista and coffee roaster. Most recently he managed at Mesa Tacos & Tequila, and then started bartending at V-Cut Lounge- both of these are locally owned small businesses in Nampa. Rachel has worked as a Midwife since 2012, and in 2021 she and Joshua welcomed their first child into the world- Fitzgerald. They operated a mobile coffee cart in the lobby of Snake River CrossFit for almost 2 years before acquiring their storefront and beginning the renovations to make it what it is today. First & Second Coffee Co. opened its doors to its brick and mortar location in December of 2023.

Together we are passionate about craft coffee, entrepreneurship and customer service. We hope that when you step into our shop that you feel welcomed and cared for, and that you thoroughly enjoy your coffee! We are so thankful for your support of our small business!

The Shop

As the specialty coffee industry continues to grow and shift, First and Second understands that the coffee experience is always evolving. We aim to bring our patrons along on our journey of diving deep for more coffee knowledge. As the business grows, we hope there is more experiences and knowledge to be had for everyone.  

We take a more modern approach to a more traditional, limited menu. Consistency and integrity in our drinks is of utmost importance. Similarly, we also make all of our own syrups from scratch following recipes we've developed in house.

The shop's cozy layout emphasizes another core aspect of coffee: connection. Much like a boutique cocktail bar invites you to be comfortable with those around you, our shop and its craft holds the same intention. Coffee ignites creativity and gives us coffee nerds so much to talk about and bond over.
